TAO Performance - Cessation of activity

I just got an email...

TAO Performance
Cessation of activity

Dear members of the TAO Performance community,

It is with profound sadness that I announce the end of TAO Performance.

After several months of fundraising to finance our developments, we were unable to gather sufficient investment intentions to achieve our strategic objectives. Having run out of cash at the beginning of 2025, we are forced to put an end to our activity.

Before this wonderful adventure comes to an end, I would like to thank you on behalf of the entire TAO Performance team for your support. Thank you for believing in us and accompanying us over the years with your encouragement, feedback and advice. TAO Performance has been an exceptional adventure on both a human and professional level, thanks to you.

This cessation of activity means a halt to after-sales service, maintenance and development in all areas of our business (hardware, firmware, software). In the near future, our website and the various tools made available online (forum, blog, Grafana) will no longer be available. I'm aware of the inconvenience this may cause, and I'm sorry about it.

Some of you will certainly have questions about this or other aspects, in which case you can reach me by e-mail (francois@taoperf.com).

Once again, I'd like to express my gratitude and wish you all the very best for the coming year.

François Jeanmaire
CEO at TAO Performance

Re: TAO Performance - Cessation of activity

This is absolutely terrible, what are we going to do for back up & service?
We need a major company like Victron or someone to take it on.
The system has outstanding features & fully compatible with all LiFeP04 Batteries.
I can't fault mine & have another 48v system to install.
Worried. - Leigh

Really sorry to hear that, I also received that email yesterday.
A few months ago they are to raise money, obviously not enough.
Their battery management system is/was possible the best (an opinion, not fact), but being the best is not always good enough.

Another info to the coummunity:

Hello to the TAO community,

First of all, a big thank you for the many messages of support we received following our last e-mail.

Following this message, several of you have informed us of your wish to order spare equipment in order to anticipate the future.

In order to organize this as quickly as possible, we need to know the quantities requested as soon as possible. This will enable us to see whether what we have in stock will be sufficient, or whether we need to restart small-scale production of certain elements.

To make things clear, it's important to clarify a few points:

The first version of our BMS is no longer in production. Only version 2 of this equipment is available. The operating logic remains the same, and this new version is compatible with most other equipment (monitor and shunt). Only the LED panel needs changing.

Due to the forthcoming closure of TAO Performance, no warranty or after-sales service can be provided with this equipment.

Due to the current situation, we are offering an exceptional 25% discount on all our products (excluding shipping costs, which will be calculated later).

To place your order, simply download the order form, fill it in and send it by e-mail to francois@taoperf.com.

Once we have received your request, we will send you an invoice, which you will need to pay before your order can be processed. In order to make this possible within the allotted time, any order not paid by Monday January 20 at midnight French time cannot be taken into account (You can send us by e-mail a proof of transfer).

All the best,

François Jeanmaire

I am convinced that this BMS is/was the best ever. Some points to wish for in the future, but at the moment better than anything else on the market.

I'm so sorry for Philippe, the heart of the system and Francois, who did all the best.

I suspect that the next steps are simply too expensive for them to be able to manage on their own alone. Hence the fundraising. I had considered investing myself. But my plans for the next 12 months didn't allow it in the end.

I found them to be knowledgeable, and open with a great product, and wish they were still in business.

Re: TAO Performance - Cessation of activity

Phil Tao, the creator of it, sold it to them and they where outpricing themselves out of the market. Phil kept the prices between 600 and 1000 which was reasonable for what this BMS can do while the buyer Tao performance nearly doubled the price to obviously cash in the investment but that killed their turnover as too expensive.
Yes it was the best BMS for vessels as made by a sailor for vessels but not surprising at all this happens giving the above facts.
I assume Phil Tao sold all the rights with it, so he cannot offer parts and service even if he wants to.
Really sad but these guys ruined it.
