Re: Lithium battery installed, monitors fluctuate

I am fortunate to have a wonderful partner that loves fishing in our little Lund as much as I love sailing. :-)
Rice cooker is a 200ah battery

Re: Lithium battery installed, monitors fluctuate

I have a typical AGM battery bank for house load
I purchased an independent LiFePO4 battery for high energy loads like coffee maker. It is separate from the main bank
I need a switch that will allow me to use the lithium for high energy loads then switch back to my AGM
Is there a 12v/DC transfer switch to switch from one battery to another (I need to switch both pos and neg since the lithium battery is not grounded to the rest of the boat)
suggestions?

Re: Lithium battery installed, monitors fluctuate

I have Jura expresso machine drawing up to 1500W (I love it), powered from a 2500W inverter. I parallel two LiFePO4 batteries each rated at 100AH continuous, 300AH for 1s with auto shutoff and have had no problems since (not too dissimilar to this https://www.redodopower.com/products...marine-battery - no relationship with Redodo other than being a customer)

The only way this will work is you have a victron 12/1600W Multi as main inverter that is connected to the AGM. on AC in of multi is a 2nd boost inverter is the AC out via AC breaker connected. This 2nd boost inverter is connected to the lifepo4. On the programmable relay of the multi is connected to the remote on/off of the 2nd
boost inverter.
Now you program in the multi the generator assistant. You then program the multi that eg above 400W for more then 3 s the multi switches the relay the 2nd boost inverter on and when the power is below eg 350W for 10s the multi switches the 2nd boost inverter switches.
Both batteries are not connected.
That only works with a victron multi that has a transfer switch, smallest as far as i know is the 12-1600 model.

Re: Lithium battery installed, monitors fluctuate

Rice cooker/steamer works.

I have been doing more testing/learning. I have an automatic 110 volt charger hooked up to a 12 volt lead acid deep cycle battery. This is my input power for the Renogy 20amp DC to DC charger. I have the output hooked up to my 12.8 volt 100AH Lithium battery. Then of course my Statpower 1500 watt inverter. Then the new B&D 6 cup rice cooker.

Why the DC to DC charger, ultimately the source battery will be my outboard motor. I have a sailpower Mercury 5 hp and a Honda 8 hp both with charging capabilities. Likely not as much as I have hooked up now but nonetheless. I also have an MPPT solar controller on the lithium too.

I can make coffee or hot toddy’s :-)

18-20 min hot water, 22-25 min, boiling hot water. I don’t have a lot of equipment to test voltage/loads etc. But the battery monitors end results were showing a recovery to about 60% left after boiling water. Topping the lithium back up took only a short while.

Now to wire everything up. 2 x 150amp ALN’s, 2 disconnects etc.
I’m also thinking about a battery monitor with a shunt. These smart monitors I have seem to be inaccurate.
