It should be a sales strategy to manufacture an LFp
battery with the same size and same Ah capacity as the LA
battery with the same Ah capacity. This strategy is designed to fully fill the space occupied by the LA battery, which will replace the Lfp battery.
When Lfp battery cells are compared to LA
batteries, the Active-Ah/Volume ratio is about 1/4, and the Active-Ah/Weight ratio is around 1/8. Foam pads coming out of the drop-in
batteries made in
China are used to fix the lfp cells to this extra wide box. Due to this sales strategy, the Active-Ah/volume ratio is limited to 1/2. The amount of unnecessary filling material, which is problematic to recycle, is unacceptably high in the drop-in
battery box.
A company that has
solved this problem nicely has developed a very well designed
DIY LFP battery set with a sealed drop-in box that can be opened and closed, which does not need unnecessary space filler material.
