Inverter not working with Lithium?

We have changed over to Lithium batteries, love the change even though there were a few hiccups getting there. Another story.
Today I decided to try out my 12v to 220v inverter to see how much power it uses to run a few appliances? ( occasional use)
Does not run but the alarm is screaming at me and no 220v??
Is this due to the 13.4v from the lithium batteries (too high a voltage)
It was fine before the changeover? Does it need a resistor placed inline?
Thoughts??

Re: Inverter not working with Lithium?

A typical 12v inverter would start batching at about 11.5 volts, some even lower, so not a voltage issue if you have 13.4v at inverter terminals.

Re: Inverter not working with Lithium?

When an engine is running or genset, lead acid batteries will often see up to 14.4 volt, so lithium 13.4 Volt should work. Hmmm, is 13.4 volt measured on the battery terminal or at the inverter itself? If it is measured at the battery, try to measure on the inverter; with all the changes there might be a enormous voltage drop somewhere now. However I have not seen an inverter that sounds a loud alarm at low voltage. Has the polarity been changed inadvertently?

Whatever it is, a resistor is not the answer, in my opinion.
Maybe have a look at the inverters settings, there might be one that may need adjusting, although I cannot think of one.

Re: Inverter not working with Lithium?

What current are you drawing when you were trying to invert?

What are the stats on your lithium batteries?

Re: Inverter not working with Lithium?

Sorry for the late reply had engines to sort out.
So check all the readings using my multimeter.
My lithiums are 13.48volts, reader says 13.5 volts at the inverter. Nothing unusual so tested it again. About to rip it out but should check the inverter when running.
Switched off mains power, (we are on the hard at present) switched to inverter, switch on ready to test input and output and it works!!!! No screaming alarm, fans are working, powered up. One job less to do, right, my problem is; I now will have to check, test and be worried why it did it in the first place???? What is different if anything.

What alarm? Lithium or inverter?
