I bought a 300Ahr Chinese lithium battery on Amazon

I'll guinea pig these things. Wish me luck.

This y fell off the title somehow.

Re: I bought a 300ah Chins lithium batter on Amazon

Did you get the C rating they used to determine the 300Ah? A 100Ah Winston 4 cells in series battery will deliver 320Ah @ the C100 discharge rate, a bit more than 100Ah @ the C2 rate that is the bench mark for quality lithium batteries.
The other question, what is the maximum continuous discharge rate, it should between 150 amps and 300 amps.

Re: I bought a 300ah Chins lithium batter on Amazon

I don't have them yet. I will test it out once it gets here in about a week.

Rated at 100 amp max continuous. The batteries are cheap. That is their quality. $1380 for 300 ah. The reviews are quite favorable. I probably should have gone with Battleborn but I wanted to try these out.

I paired it with a Combimaster 2000 watt charger/inverter and a solar charge controller from Mastervolt. I am going to redo all the electrical on my boat.

I won't learn how to do this stuff by reading. I have to get my hands on it first. Once I know more I might realize how poor these batteries are.

I am a land electrician but I am learning boat electrical and DC as I go.

Re: I bought a 300ah Chins lithium batter on Amazon

100 amps continuous means it's probably really a 200Ah battery but by using the load rating used for AGM batteries, C20, they can get around 300Ah out of the same battery. The price is about what you would expect to pay for a 200Ah 12v lithium battery so if it holds up under pressure it should do you fine ...... but the 2000w inverter @ 12v will drag more than the 100 amps continuous rating, more like 180 amp under full load allowing for the inverter losses.

A very different set of rules when it comes to extra low voltage DC and a lot of household electricians get caught out when it comes to the required cable size. Remember to keep all the cable conductor sq mm area big, what would appear to be ridiculously over size for low voltage AC is the minimum you can get away with when using extra low voltage DC. Cable voltage drop of just 1% will drop the appliance supply voltage to 11.8v from a 12v supply, the accepted 5% for low voltage stuff would drop the voltage to 11.4v and a very unhappy appliance. Trying to drag 180 amps from a battery that has a max continuous rating of 100 amps will certainly suffer voltage drop at the terminals, so big cables and as short as possible between the battery and the inverter.

I was wrong they are rated at 100 amp continuous charge and 200 amp continuous discharge.

Following along. Was thinking about getting this or a set of smaller 100ah that are $500.

Re: I bought a 300ah Chins lithium batter on Amazon

5 secs @400 amps, not bad and I'm guessing the BMS is the limiting factor there, not the cells themselves. The 10 yr warranty is certainly impressive .... well if you can ever collect on it if you need to that is

I wonder if anyone will pop the top off one of these batteries so we can see just what is inside. Need to get that bloke who did the Battleborn test to do a test on these batteries as well and test them at a decent discharge rate, 2C tests are the standard for lithium batteries so he needs to up his test load to get a proper results. C2 for a 300Ah battery is 150 amps, so well within the continuous output rating, so just waiting for you to do the test for us
One thing though, I'd ignore the 14.6v charging and restrict the upper boost/bulk charging to the 14.2v they list, then drop it back to 13.6v till the capacity drops below 80%, then return it to the boost/bulk mode.

I just watched that guy on YouTube cut open the Battleborn battery. They sure are purdy inside. I wonder if they sent him a special one they spent extra time on.

The 300ah Chins battery takes longer to ship than the rest they offer. Gonna be a month at least I think before I get it.

I think you mean 0.5C Test, for a 300AH this is 150A. 1C is 300A, 2C would be 600A.
Well from the spec for me the battery consists of 8 low spec 100AH cells trocken To a 300AH rating as Terry said and unknown BMS.
Low Spécifications behause of
A) only 2000 cycles, Standard is 4000 on a high spec.
B) 4sec 400A, high spec do 3C shortterm means 600A or 900A following their 300AH
C) continous charge only 100AH, means 0.5C of following the 300AH Rating only 0.3C. High quality ones do 1C continous.

You get what you pay for.
As Terry wrote earlier, 100AH cells from Winston do 320Ah and are half price.
Cheap as AGM and high quality, Look for the 272 Lishen of 280AH EVE cells

Lithiumm batteries have caughfire in planes and and cars and everything else with a Lithium battery including phones.

Lithium-ion batteries commonly used in consumer electronics are notorious for bursting into flame when damaged or improperly packaged. ... "If the battery is damaged and the plastic layer fails, the electrodes can come into contact and cause the battery's liquid electrolyte to catch fire
