And meantime, those of is that want to be able to buy known-good quality bare prismatic cells from US-based distribution are left dealing with Carl working out of his basement.

Sad truth is, it is not easy at all for regular folks to get the same level of cells that Lithionics, Trojan, etc. have access to.

In the US, less true in the rest of the developed world.

I think such a big gap in the market, great opportunity someone with access to capital could easily fill.

Super B makes some nice 12v 160 AH LiFePO4 batteries. They are made in Europe. A bit pricey, but I have 8 of them in my 48v system and they can be continuously discharged at 300 amps and recharged at 150 amps. I have 24 solar panels for 7200 watts, plus two 17KW gensets. I run two Ocenvolt 15 KW electric sail drive motors.

Very cool system! Here is a diagram of a somewhat similar boat we helped supply, it's a charter cat in Hawaii...
