surveyor in Moruya

Hi, first time poster. We are interested in a 44 ft steel yacht, lying in Moruya, NSW. With the travel restrictions, flying in from NZ to have a good look over her is not as simple as it used to be. So we're thinking to change the normal chain of events and have a surveyor go through the boat and get his/her OK before we do an inspection ourselves. Can anyone recommend a good surveyor in that general area?
Thanks,
Helwi.

Helwi I would not be surprised if you cannot find a surveyor free this close to Christmas. Not to mention it looks like Moruya is in the middle of nowhere so it could be a $800+ day for a surveyor to just go have a look.
The yacht looks good in the photos, but it's the bits you cannot see that are the real concern. I would be paying close attention to the deck hull join. Plywood on steel can be an issue if it is not properly done. I see the rigging is reaching the end of it's life as well. Here in Australia 10 years is usually it and then the insurer wants it replaced. The yachts been well used so it's due. That's normally costing $5000+.
Cheers

You would have to find one in Sydney and get them to go down there I would think. Very, very unlikely you would find one between Sydney and Melbourne.

Re: surveyor in Moruya

It’s a 4.5 hour drive so you’ll probably have to pay travel time as well and maybe overnight accommodation.

Still cheaper than missing a few things that turn out to be really expensive repairs!
