Re: Planning for our Brisbane - Sydney - Melbourne - Adelaide - Perth - Kimberley pas
Also one more thing..... I would not leave Perth too late - We had someone hit us in Freo marina and by the time all repairs were done we did not leave until Early June - Weather was hideous most of the Way up to Exmouth - Cold, Rainy and Big Winds, but Exmouth upward was fantastic FYI You can take the wind reports with a Pinch of salt, after Perth!

Fortunately most of the nasties on the southern portion of the WA coast, whilst the onset is inclined to be from the NW, fairly quickly work their way around to the SW and gradually moderate.

Re: Planning for our Brisbane - Sydney - Melbourne - Adelaide - Perth - Kimberley pas
Thanks for all the info @UFO. We’re in Albany for the next week waiting for a short high between all the strong W winds. We’ve got some repairs to do so the time isn’t wasted, as well as renting a ute to do some exploring.
We had originally planned a few weeks in Fremantle but as of now probably just a provisioning stop and we’ll head north before the end of April. We definitely do not want to be dealing with cold NW winds heading up this coast.

Pilot Chart for May.
Easterlies and southerlies predominate in May so a couple of weeks in Fremantle wouldn't be an excessive burden to your onward cruising.

For your boat, I would add Lake Macquarie for a cruising destination. Have to navigate a bridge opening and channel but inside, the cruising is great.

Spent a week in Albany doing repairs myself - Beautiful place, except the Seagull problem which was out of control when I was there - They had someone employed 6 days a week pressure hosing all the marina walkways of bird mess! Not sure if they did a mass cull like all the locals we spoke to wanted or found some other method to keep them away?
If you have a Ute drive along the coast to Greens Pool - Absolutely stunning place to go for a swim! From memory its not too far past Denmark.

Yup, did that, thanks for the tip. Due to big swells it was a bit murky.
Regarding the gulls (still lots - the commercial fishing boat catches are very popular with them), but we have two cats and they do a very good job keeping the birds of our boat.
