Looking for advice on French Polynesia charter

The vast majority (All?) of the charter yachts are based in Raiatea so when/if you're out at Bora B, keep an eye on the weather, both local and areas to the east, ahead of your return trip - the charter cats invariably motor it - on your last day. Even with beautiful/light weather locally, you might still find yourself beating back into some steep and compared to Croatia/BVIs very big, head seas to return to Raiatea if it's been blowing 30 knots for a couple of days across in the Tuamotus.

Well noted, thank you. I was indeed expecting that this might be a possibility when going from Bora Bora to Raiatea, or Raiatea to Huahine.

Less likely in the summer months as the winds are generally lighter. OTOH, upwind in 10 knots means motoring or motor sailing but upwind in 15-20 knots would mean sailing. Albeit rather uncomfortable, just as motoring would be.

Plan your crossings to take place early morning and a few days after starting or a few days before ending your charter. That way you can avoid crossing on a particular day if it’s not so nice.

All four islands is a rush with anything less than two full weeks.

Lagoonarium definitely worth it if with kids.
