Used gear store, Panama City ??

Is there a used sailing gear store in Panama City, or on the Pacific side?

Maybe something like Minnie's in Costa Mesa, greater Los Angeles.


I need a sea anchor for a 41 foot sailboat.

Nothing that I know of. Its hard enough to get new gear in Panama (usually end up importing).

I think the best bet is check with the marinas and online forums.

There was a mechanic in Linton Bay Marina who used to keep a significant inventory of used gear. He had small chandlery/used gear shop in the marina. I am not sure of the current status.

check the sailor bars in Portobelo...


not sure if it's the same dude dude in linton bay.. but there was a "guy" that seemed like he could source more or less anything you needed. (mostly salvaged from wrecks i believe)

There used to be a salvage shop in Portobelo also (different guy/shop). I heard the guy who ran it committed suicide. It was closed last I knew of but that was years ago. Maybe someone reopened it.

(sorry this is on atlantic sidce) but another option might be that workshop in Panamarina..
i remember prices there were "fair"..

The "Panama Cruisers" Facebook group is maybe your best bet.

Otherwise there are a couple of Chandler's along the waterfront as you walk from the Fish market to Casco Vejio that have some 2nd hand stuff.

Finally there place near the canal that apparently sells 2nd hand gear. If you take the C970 bus from Albrook to Merca Panama it's about about halfway along on the left hand side. If you look on Google maps for "Rastro Marino" I think that's the either the place or it's right next door. I've never been there myself....
