Re: Temporary Import Permit for Mexico

A follow up:

We enlisted the help from a fellow cruiser (fluent in Spanish) who called Mexico City on our behalf (he was on the phone for an hour-and-a-half) and got an email address. My wife wrote an email (our Spanish-speaking friend edited it) and we got a reply very quickly.

We returned to the Banjercito, dressed in our best clothes (we even wore shoes!) and armed with all the documentation we could muster, including copies of the email and notes on the conversation with Mexico City.

It worked. An hour later we walked out with the old, offending TIP canceled and a new 10-year TIP in our hands.

Fair winds and calm seas.

We just found ourselves in a similar situation. Bought a boat that has been in MX and did not cancel the tip. The tip is still active but we don’t have it.

We only plan to stay for a month or two.
Where did you get the info about having 6 months to obtain the tip?

Any chance you can give me the phone number and/or the email address please? We have an activ tip from the previous owner with no copy of it or their exit Zarpe so cannot cancel it

Tnx
Sabina

Thank you.
I've just written my first email in Spanish!

From what i've seen & read so far though it seems that we may find ourselves hastily leaving MX within the 2 weeks period which, apparently, we are allowed to stay without one

Thanks,
Sabina.
