San Francisco to San Diego

Will be departing SF on Saturday for a single leg passage to SD. I’m interested to know if anyone will be heading downhill in the same timeframe.

Re: San Francisco to San Diego

Likely to be a tad rough along the central coast with a gale warning / small craft adversary. But at least you and the wind will be going in the same direction and you are not attempting to go northwest from San Diego to San Francisco. Strongly recommend that you rig a preventer and/or a boom brake for your dead down wind traverse. Enjoy the cruise and surfing.

Thanks, Montanan. I’ll broad reach it, and stay further offshore, but will have the preventer rigged to avoid any surprises. I’m not super-happy about the opposing swell, but California is usually a little bumpy. It’s still some pretty awesome cruising ground.

A bit of an opposing swell, but well at least you won't need to contend with the likes of a Dorian.
