Sailing Center in CT or RI??

I may be moving to Hartford, CT this summer and I am trying to find if there are any sailing centers that give you access to a fleet of sailboats with your membership. I am looking for something like Boston Sailing Center. I have found places like Freedom Boat Club, but they don't have sailboats.

Is there anything like this from Providence, RI down to about Bridgeport, CT? I am trying to find the most economical way to get out on the water 6-10 trips per summer, with maybe a weekend trip here or there.

In the past I owned a 30ft sailboat out of Salem, MA. I really miss it and need to get back on the water.

I did see them. I am looking for something like that, but larger. They only operate J/22's and you can only go out for a couple hours.

Sail Newport was the only one I could find when I lived in Providence. You were kind of limited as to where you could sail (I think it was basically from the bridge to Beaver Tail). But you definitely get a lot of wind, and Js are fun.

I think there's also a way to charter 42' Bennies, but I recall them being more expensive than hopping on 95 and driving the hour [EDIT: 90 minutes from Hartford] up to BSC.

There are places farther west of Bridgeport. Found this one in Norwalk https://soundsailingcenter.com/ I don't know anything about this place. There is one other place over the border in New York which I found before https://www.portsailing.com/

There’s a SailTime location in Newport. Fairly easy drive from Hartford. We lived in West Hartford and the Greater Hartford area for almost thirty years. Love it there - except for the winters!

NESS- New England Science and Sailing in Stonington Borough, CT. They have 22-24 foot sloops for something like $20/hour. May also have other models and rates but worth checking out. This is out of Stonington Harbor and a great way to sail for a day or afternoon without breaking the bank.

If you are looking for something bigger, check out OceanZenSailing.com for a captained 46’ catamaran experience sailing Block Island, Fishers Island and the region.

Lots of local options like the above. Happy sailing.
