Planning USVI To Chesapeak March

I picked up a nice 36 footer in USVI which I plan to island hop Dec - March then work my way up north with a final port in Chesapeake bay.


I will most likely do it short handed so I was thinking of doing the thorny path up to FL.



So looking for any advice

Florida to the Chesapeake is about 5 days. Get in the Gulf Stream and ride it to hatteras. Just don't get caught in a Noreaster.

March is kind of early, it would be better to leave late April or early May.
