Moving to Cleveland

Hi Guys,
I am moving to Cleveland this July.
I would like to bring over my 34 Pearson and do some sailing there.
Would you advice places where to keep the boat, marinas, places where to sail around Cleveland, anchorage points, short trips to lake Erie island and so on?
Any info on Cleveland Sailing experience is appreciated!! Thanks a lot!

I have sailed all over Lake Erie and stopped in Cleveland at the Rock n Dock last summer during Covid. It was very pleasant. Only 3 boats in the marina, but we were right downtown which was pleasant. Free electric scooters, breweries, provisioning - all was so easy.

There are several large marinas on the waterfront to choose from. Don't know much about them. Daysailing is possible in the harbor even in rough weather because there is a long breakwall protecting the harbor. It is similar to Buffalo where I sailed for decades.

Lake Erie is warm and swimmable in the summer. The islands at the west end of the lake are great. The Canadian shore offers some nice destinations as well as Presque Isle (Erie, PA).

Lots of info to consider here ( I was a transplant my self 24 years ago) .I'd start with what side of town are you moving to? Do you mind driving to the boat?
In our case we live east, but the boat is west , due to the marina, places to go etc ... but most people think we are crazy to drive an hour to get to the boat ( it's a Cleveland thing) ..
Kind of depends on what you are looking for .. a club? lots of sailing? Places to cruise to ? Even down to the economic profile of your fellow dock mates- it can be shockingly different.
I will say , it's a great area don't listen to the haters.. Cleveland is not what it was- downtown is awesome, we are a serious world class restaurant city , the lake can give you pretty much much anything you can want ( except being on it all year)
And this is real - if you can sail Lake Erie, you can sail anywhere...

You might as well start getting used to it now, for most Pennsylvanians Cleveland is called ‘the mistake on the lake’ funny thing is there is little difference between the two.
