There seems to be only one sheltered port--Puerto Quetzal, and we skipped it as the Raines guide said the clear-in
fees were high. It's a small probably dredged harbor, and seems to be dedicated mostly to sport-fishing
boats. I'd guess
security is good near the expensive
boats, but no idea about inland.
If travelling that coast, the Coast Pilot is a good resource to supplement the Raines and Sail Sarana guides. IDK if there's more guides now, as I passed by some years ago.
With
ports in
Mexico and El Salvador so nearby,
Guatemala is not really needed as a stop, unless you really just want to see the country.
