I hear (scuttlebutt, of course) that Turkey is exceptionally affordable/economical.
If you'd like the scoop on Greece, contact goboatingnow. He's been doing extended cruising in Greece and will have a good perspective on a Greecian comparison.
Good luck! That's a huge boat.

thanks for info. is goboatingnow on this site? wintering in the med is an option as im looking at a couple boats in holland that are 58’ and 60’. kanter and a koopmans. so im planning to do a season in med and then one in Caribbean then bring her home to NZ. aluminium monos 50-60’ are the preferred option. i see you are from CA ontario, thats kanter yacht territory. beautifull boats.

If you're looking for a CF Member by name, you can find them using the search tool, looking for their posts; a link to their profile will appear at the top of the list of their posts. GBN's link below:

Good luck. Hope you've got quite a sailing resume - and someone with equal sailing background going with you - at least. 60' is a huge boat.
Here's a cautionary tale from this year - please note Posts 20, 30 and 46:

Re: WINTER storage greece or turkey?
Options here in the Ionian are winter berths in water ( very common ) oct -April
Other options are lift out in Akio near preveza there are three very large hard standing areas ( 1000s of boats ) you can live on the boat in some too.
All trades are available but work is not cheap in Greece. Turkey is definitely cheaper but I’ve no specific data. Here in Lefkada we have all the marine agents , mechanics. Fabricators , stainless etc

Re: WINTER storage greece or turkey?
The advantage of leaving the boat on the hard in Greece is that while on the dry, you don't pay their infamous boating tax (TEPAI), but this has to be offset with other related costs (lift) and works that need to be done (eg antifouling, smaller and bigger repairs). In spring I received a quotation from a Turkish shipyard for the installation of the bow thruster which proved 100% higher than the one I got from very pricy Croatia, moreover, there were many open ends and additional charges, eg shipyard fee on top of the marina's dry berthing fee.

Re: WINTER storage greece or turkey?
Can anyone recommend a place in Greece to leave a Lagoon 380 catamaran for the winter?
East Greece would be better as I am in Turkey and here they have almost doubled both wet and hardstand fees.
Labour is definitely cheaper in Turkey.

Can only refer to western Greece but Aktio has dedicated hard standing yards only businesses and these are very competitive. Marinas often have pricey hard standing .

Re: WINTER storage greece or turkey?
I have my boat in Almira shipyard 10km from the Corinth canal <https://almirashipyard.com/en/homepage-almira-shipyard/> - repairs, etc. by microyacht <https://www.facebook.com/microyacht/> they are currently doing extensive reconstruction work on my Finnsailer - prices fair and good work. You might want to check them out.

I feel for you. Flew to Spain to look at a 50' and had to give up due to the survey results. Going to Greece soon to look at another.

i had a survey done which came thru before i went. it didn’t really tell me a lot. i’m glad i added the condition “ personal inspection” which the broker was a bit reluctant to put in. but overall the dutch are very good to deal with.

I learned a lot being onsite during the survey for the 50'. Planning to do the same on the next one.
