PETITION: 6 months UK/EU reciprocal travel

I have started a petition on the petition.parliament.uk site for UK yachties who cruise long-term in the EU and who will be severely affected post-Brexit.

Please sign if you are likely to be affected!

Click on this link to sign the petition:

My petition:

Negotiate with the EU six months visa-free travel for tourism

Negotiate a reciprocal deal that allows tourists from the EU and UK to travel for up to six months in their respective territories - preferably visa-free.

Visitors from numerous countries round the world can already travel to the UK for up to six months for tourism purposes. A similar arrangement should be extended to EU citizens in return for equal rights for UK tourists to the EU. In recognition of our historic connections with the EU, this should ideally be visa-free.

Re: PETITION: 6 months UK/EU reciprocal travel

Actually, the 'official' petitions review panel has taken so long to consider this petition I have started another one on the Change.org site.

The thrust of the new petition is as follows:

Demand 6 months visa-free tourism in the EU for Brits

There are no fewer than 56 different nationalities that can travel to the UK for up to six months tourism without needing a visa – including ones as diverse as Paraguay, Namibia and Vanuatu!

A similar arrangement will probably be extended to EU citizens after the transition period. However, this should only be in return for equal rights for UK tourists to travel for up to six months in the EU without requiring a visa.

This seems a perfectly reasonable position for the Government's negotiating team to adopt and if sufficient numbers of cruisers sign the petition it may still gain some traction even at this eleventh hour.

If this issue matters to you, please sign it at http://chng.it/BnD4PY6SWc and get all your cruising friends to sign it. Also write to your MP if you haven't already.

There's no guarantee of success - especially at this late stage - but one thing is certain: if we all do nothing it won't happen!
