Mallorca

Hi, doing a one week bare boat charter out of Palma, Mallorca. Looking for marina information on the south side of the island. Hoping to find some small towns to spend the nights. Thanks.

Re: Mallorca

PortoPetro & Porto Cristo were nice when we were there last year and if you can reserve a bouy in the Carbrera's for a few nights

Re: Mallorca

Spent quite a bit of time in this area cruising, Santa ponta is quite nice, loads of space to anchor, stay on the right side as go in, you will see most of the boats on this side as there is a reef down the middle marked with buoys.
Continuing round eastwards Andratx is worth a visit, just anchor off we’re the other boats are and the town is lovely for a meal out.
A must is Porto Soller, the bay is really protected and loads of space to anchor, really nice restaurants and a lovely place , well worth the few hours sail up the west coast even though that is the only place on the west coast. Make sure you get the little wooden train into Soller town which is a few miles inland.
Enjoy.

Re: Mallorca

Thanks for the note. I will check it out. May try to make Soller, but don’t know if it worth the sail up the coast and back.

Re: Mallorca

Spent some time in Mallorca this summer. Gorgeous place, really awesome. Also liked Santa ponta. Agree that it's nice, cruising there was a sheer pleasure. Loads of places there are worth visiting. To tell you the truth I was so amazed by this place that I seriously consider moving there for residence )) currently I'm in Seattle but looked through https://www.realestateespanol.com/ and it turned out that if I sell my 3-room flat in the center of my town and by some apartment in say Alicante I still have extra 30k on living ) that is a tempting thought for me. On the 1 hand I've lived here for the last 12 years, on the other - I was fascinated by marine Spain )

Re: Mallorca

Mallorca... Where to start? Santa Ponca? Is OK, not great. It is one of the few remaining harbors of substantial size allowing anchoring. It is almost always packed with other boats. In the summer months the town is packed with drunk Brits partying into the wee hours. There is an excellent Eroski (supermarket) there. I had my rental car broken into , during the daytime, while grocery shopping there once. There are frequent buses to and from Palma. Besides having a convenient anchorage, I would give the town itself a pass.

Soller has a lovely protected harbor, that is usually insanely, and dangerously overcrowded with anchoring boats.

Pollenca in the north is very, very nice.

Re: Mallorca

Spent the winter afloat in Mallorca....Porto Cristo and Palma. Not hugely impressed overall. Loved Palma the city though. Maybe go to Menorca for a few days, that was nice.... Clearly this doesn't help you much Good luck!
