Buying a boat in Italy - deregistration/flag change

I am about to buy a sailboat in Italy and register her under a Polish flag. The boat is from 1977 so not being a subject to VAT. Does anybody know the formal procedure for deregistering the boat from the Italian registry? What are the steps that i need to follow after getting the sale contract signed? Do I need to de-register her in Italy before applying for Polish registration or it is similar to the procedure for buying a car (one EU registration cancels the previous one)?

Yes, you do need to deregister from the Italian register before registering in Poland. The full list of required documents for Polish registration is here:
