Bavaria 36 - Suitable fo? cruising

Hello cruisers,

I appreciate that there are several considerations / variables that could or should be appended to my question; but in the round what's people opinions of cruising European waters (predominantly the Mediterranean) in a Bavaria 36 (Shoal Keel) 8 berths (yes I deduct two from that at least) normally with only two onboard, occasionally 4 people.

Originally I'd though of a slightly larger boat (39' to 42') but am rather taken by a Bavaria 36 not a million miles from me.

Just interested to hear if anyone has used a Bavaria 36 to cruise for protracted periods (3 months or so).

Thanks in advance.

I cruise the Ionian in a 2004 Bavaria 36. It’s an “ owner’s version” , 2 cabins. There’s just me and SWMBO. We spend 6 months onboard mostly moving from port to port etc.

I regard it as a perfect size for two , 4 at real push. I actually downsized from a benny 393.

Well screwed together , self sufficient from her PV panels , carries about 10-12 days water , fridge made ice in 37 degree C ambient. Usual toys , AP , AIS class B , and so forth , 70m of chain ( the locker struggles )

Can’t fault it for the job it does

Search for "M Jambo" on YouTube. This guy owns a Bavaria 34 Holiday and has cruised her extensively, including two Atlantic crossings. Mostly single handed, but on occasion with his wife or one-two guests. He's from Germany and most of his videos are in german, but he has more than a few uploads in english.

You can sail around the world with 30 feet boats as well, but the boat must have CE and A class certification
