Re: Cruiser caused damage to coral reef

hardly the whole story. was it a charter? Was it an accident? Were they markers?

Re: Cruiser caused damage to coral reef

JUst saw this on the Sail SE Asia FB page:

"This story is fake news. The sailor is moored next to me. He’s spoken to immigration to ascertain his status. He’s spoken to police. He’s provided a report to authorities. The boat is not a “luxury yacht” as reported. It is a pretty standard 38 foot cruising yacht. This story is trial by social media. The vessel owner is hardly a “foreign tourist” but a long term resident of Thailand and business operator."

Re: Cruiser caused damage to coral reef

Makes you wonder about this sentence in the linked article above:

"The sailboat owner will face a 5,000 baht fine for breaking through the buoy line,"

If he is a resident, then perhaps ought to have known better.

Re: Cruiser caused damage to coral reef

5000 baht is about $150. Sensationalized news.
