Someone posted a link to a site that was being built a while back where you could add descriptions of ideal cruising grounds. I am sorry to say, I have forgotten who, or where the link is.
On critical factor is where you intend to
cruise. You wil find far more shallow anchorages in the Carrib than you will along the Pacific coast. In fact, I know of none in this area that would give you a problem with 6.5' or less of draft. There are a few harbors, and some areas in the
Delta that ae a bit shallow, but from Bodega bay to Morro Bay, all the anchorages are fairly deep.
