Re: Ohio River Louisville KY

I've wondered if anybody actually lived on the Ohio or not. There is a marina here near Cincy that says they welcome liveaboards, but I haven't checked them out. I'm not quite ready to make the break yet. Of course the other question is - do you really want to live on the Ohio? At least in Cincy it doesn't look like the nicest body of water to call home.

There's a girl in our cruising club here in Louisville that lives on the river. I can find out which marina if you'd like.

Re: Ohio River Louisville KY

Thanx folks. It's a pretty great city, and I think I can ease myself into the lifestyle there. I have a good social network there, job options etc. as well as being within a couple hours drive of family. My thinking is that I can stradle two worlds by being marina based as I develop the skills and familiarity (not to mention equip and prep a boat/home). When I am properly prepared, well it's a short hop to the great loop down to the gulf, carib. etc. Baby steps. So Charley and Anna, yes I'd love to know of a liveaboard sight there- I have as yet been unable to find that. Also the point of the marina (among many reasons) is to stay clear of all that unfriendly flotsm. Thanx again, and when I have something exciting to tell, I will. K

The liveaboard marina I was speaking of is on Rose Island Road. Let me know if you'd like more info. I think its pretty nice.

Thanks. That's the Rose Island Yacht Club? I'll have to call & see if they accept uncouth, unwashed Hoosiers.

Thanks again

Hum, someone in Louisville! Im trying to finish my refit so I can get the boat down south. Last year the river was a bust being high a lot of the season. This winter has been better than up east, but....

Uncouth and unwashed Hoosiers are the very best kind; being one myself, this is first hand confirmed! Bletso, if you wand extra hands on that job, I'll trade sweat for experience...PM me and I'll be glad to assist when off.
