Hi. Wondering cost of a reasonable insurance company. I have no sailing experience. Start courses soon....Details? Can i get the boat insured? Thank you fellow sailers...Stephen.
Re: Malta boat purchase info and Insurance prices?
Hi Stephen, considering you have no experience Liability Only Insurance is likely the best you will get.
Were you staying in Europe I would have suggested Pantaenius UK.. however considering your plans to do a Malta to Florida Transat I doubt they'll be very interested as they have a USA office for over there.
To get Comprehensive Insurance to cover you, crew and boat for the trip I suggest a USA/Canada based company and name Cat Couple or whoever you get to do the trip with you, also named on the policy.. A/ For the cover in the first place, B/ For proven experience of waters to be transited.. its not coast hopping and in your boat you'll be at least 21 days out of sight of land with hurricane season approaching unless you can start in March/April so skill sets will affect the price the company bills you..
You can then have them removed once the trip is over.
Good luck..

Good plan, just research your travel & ports well keeping a good secure storage place in mind for when your 90 days are up and you need her berthed or ashore for the following 6mths till you can return to her.
