Florida registration

I recently purchased a boat to have in Florida but I live in NY can I register this boat now in Florida or do I have to wait until I take it there 6 months from now

So I take it that you and the boat are in NY right now? I'm wondering what advantage you think you would gain by registering it in Florida right now. NY will almost certainly still want their sales tax, and will probably require you to register it there, also, if that's where you are keeping it for the next several months.


Answer to your question is that, yes, you can register it in Florida if you have a Florida address that you can use. Honestly, though, I cannot think of one good reason why you would want to do that before you get there.
