A tsunami warning has been issued for coastal areas of
California and
Oregon after a powerful earthstruck rocked Northern
California.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake, a tsunami is set to follow.
It is scheduled to hit Fort Bragg in California at 11 a.m. PST, Crescent City in California at 11:20 a.m. PST and
San Francisco at 12:10 p.m. PST.
Port Orford in
Oregon will experience the tsunami at 11:20 a.m. PST, followed by Brookings in Oregon ar 11:25 a.m. PST and Charleston at 11:40 a.m. PST.
The quake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 struck about 62 miles west of Ferndale, California in Humboldt County on Thursday morning.
The earthquake struck at a
depth of about 10 kilometers at around 10:44 a.m. local time.
