Tropical Storms Claudette & Dolores

Tropical Storm Claudette formed along the US Gulf Coast on Saturday morning, bringing heavy rains and flooding to coastal states including Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami said in a 4am (08:00 GMT) advisory that the storm was located 45 miles (75km) southwest of New Orleans with maximum sustained winds of 45mph (75km/h).

Tropical Storm Dolores formed on Friday with landfall expected on its west-central coast on Saturday evening, possibly near hurricane strength, according to the National Hurricane Center.

NOAA's revised hurricane outlook sees more storms in 2021 Atlantic season

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on Wednesday revised slightly upward its outlook, for the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, estimating there was a 65 per cent chance of an above-normal season, compared with a previous report that called for a 60 per cent chance.
The U.S. government agency anticipates there will be between 15 and 21 named storms this season. A previous outlook had called for 13 to 20 named storms.
The NOAA is still predicting between three and five major hurricanes, and has held the top-end of anticipated hurricanes at ten.
NOAA does not anticipate the 2021 season to top last year's record, which saw 30 named storms.

Being a Scotsman , I wonder at all these storms especially this cat 4 that's headed to new Orleans
Seriously what can you do to protect yourself ? In the Western isles of Scotland ,I can generally place a large lump of a mountain between myself and the storm , it might get a tad colder than the gulf of Mexico but it's not as windy

Well, mostly pay attention and stay away from the coast where the eye comes ashore.

For a lot of people, who've been through this many times before, they're more of an annoyance, kinda like crowds at Mardi Gras season.

For instance, I was headed out to throw an additional, probably unnecessary line on my boat, was met at the Interstate with bumper to bumper traffic (going the opposite way) and said 'f--- it', came home, cranked my little 3 kw generator to make sure it worked, slacked 3 ropes holding the tarp over one of the boats off, and went back to working on the latest project.

They probably seem scarier seen from a distance, either in experience or actual mileage .
