Motor Yacht Fire -- Marina Del Rey

There is some interesting video here: https://us.yahoo.com/news/yacht-carr...060800045.html

No loss of life, only property.

I’m sure it was lithium batteries that made the fire so intense

Re: Motor Yacht Fire -- Marina Del Rey

That's a pretty mild comment from someone I thought might have something pointed to say about the sense involved with storing "1,000 pounds of ammunition and fireworks" aboard.

I wonder where he/they expected to set off the fireworks; and I wonder the ratio of ammunition to fireworks, to say nothing of what the firefighters might have had to say.

Personally, this is my favorite:

Quote:
Just before 10:30 p.m., the vessel began to sink due to the water from firehoses causing it to take on water in addition to the damage to the ship.
We put out the fire, but your boat still sank

How is that more dangerous than 100s of gallons of gasoline with an LPG system thrown in?

I like how they told us it was "live" ammunition.

Firefighters battled the flames from both the water and the docks, but the fire’s intensity and the yacht’s twin diesel engines made the situation nearly impossible to control
Yeah, it's really hard to put out those diesel engines once they catch fire!
