Yeah, I remember back in the 1970's when gas went up to, OMG, 75 cents a gallon. Siphon hoses got real popular.

Re: Better start thinking about..

No need to lock, just switch the "Diesel" and "Waste" caps.

Nice suggestion but would to require removing the whole body, that indicates “Diesel” not just the cap alone..

Re: Better start thinking about..

Some don't read the labels. Friends had their newish 43' Bene in charter as the only way to get a slip, besides having the blackwater tank overfilled they also had a water tank filled with diesel. My NEW (2014) F150 doesn't even have a cap just a weird flap and spout that requires a weird funnel if you try to fill from an emergency can.
I live in a senior community with ONE private access road with security cameras in an affluent beach community. There have been numerous thieves' (?) of catalytic converters from the RV storage yard. It's fenced, locked, lighted and cameras.

Re: Better start thinking about..

thefts

Around here the usual disaster is having the yard staff pump gasoline into a rod holder.

A guy I know had his catalytic converter stolen a month or two ago, in a crowded apartment complex. One of his neighbors watched the thief do it, didn't call the cops or do anything at all. Wasn't even going to tell him he saw anything, it was the guy's wife who finally said something.

Other people don't give a crap about your stuff, and thieves know it.
