It's true that not EVERY accident gets in there, but any involving commercial traffic or a licensed captain does. The NTSB also gets involved in some serious cases, and all there investigations are online.
Many/most pleasure boat accidents never show up there, and none from outside the USA. Of course, most don't involve loss of life or serious injury, and often the Coast Guard isn't even involved. Often, the cause of an offshore sinking is impossible to pinpoint without the vessel being around to investigate. I always remember the story of Arthur Beiser, author of the Proper Yacht, and the sinking of their Nicholson 70. The only explanation is something let go and the boat sunk. https://www.cruisingworld.com/still-...l-these-years/

Re: 60' Charter Cat; Moon Dragon rescue

Sometimes they show up again, a Leopard 44 was lost in a Hurricane in the Indian ocean and showed up a year later inverted. There was even a fraud case off NZ where some guy opened the seacocks to sink his catamaran when a cargo ship was near by, he got rescued and claimed on insurance, trouble is the cat did not sink, showed up later and he got sprung.

I'm pretty sure this is the exact story of that 60' from Annapolis on Amazon as an eBook.
