We are reconditioning a MD2B volvo penta engine in New Zealand and are finding it difficult to find a new head gasket. Is there anyone in our fabulous community who could help please. Grisette is languishing in the marina looking very sad with the head off the engine, just itching to get going again. (Seized valves and bent pushrods brought us to this situation)

Years ago some auto racers would have grooves cut around all pistons and passages in the block. They would use soft copper rings to effect the seal. This may be a last resort but a possibility. Be most careful to have the exact same clearances as the gasket would provide. Fair winds and good luck.

If the gasket you are looking for is part # 859151 it is in stock at my Volvo dealership. Problem is, I am in Canada.
