Southern Cross 31

I am hoping to find a young person or couple who would like to begin their sailing experience with a strong simple boat. The Southern Cross 31 is a cutter rigged double ended designed craft that easily accommodates several on board, but is best for one or two to live on board. It is powered by a Westerbeke, a dependable marine diesel. The boat was built by Ryder Yachts of Bristol, Rhode Island in 1979. The hull is heavy fiberglass, and I put all new through-hull fittings in several years ago. The canvas is in tough shape. I am 70 and hesitant to replace it all now. There are no built in electronics. The galley is terrific, with just an ice box.

The boat is located in San Carlos, Mexico, on the mainland side of the Sea of Cortez. Sailing in this ocean is an excellent place to hone your cruising skills before taking off on a larger adventure. San Carlos is 5 hours south of Tucson making it an accessible port to come and go from.

I am asking $15,000. If money is difference between going to sea and not, let's talk.
