Bought this British Seagull Model 40 Featherweight (2-3HP per factory) with an
Avon dinghy. I have another
motor so if there's anyone out there with a penchant for Seagulls and great British engineering
, here's a chance to experience it.
I jest about the engineering part, as primitive as they are, they seem to run forever and have developed a bit of a cult following. This one had been sitting for nigh on thirty years and after a clean, a new
plug, the viton 'O' ring full tap fix and fresh gas it started right up. Runs well and starts easily, seems to have good
compression though it does need a new spark
plug cap. These and many other spares are still available online. The
engine is clean with a little
corrosion on the leg, the
cooling system is clear and it pumps a good stream through the
cooling outlet. This one does have a few unusual extras: the original Seagull carry bag, tools, manual, factory tiller extension and a couple of spares.
I have taken a video of it running:
Asking $295 OBO. Located in NM
USA. For
shipping purposes it weighs about 45 lbs and would be approximately 40x14x15 inches packed.
