Re: PRICE REDUCED 48' Aluminium Bluewater Custom Built Yacht For Sale

Noelex, hi.

I am wondering about the dinghy-in-the-transom arrangement: Does it have to stick out as in the picture? Could a smaller dinghy fit inside fully?

Thanks.

Yes, she has conventional frames and stringers. This is the most labour intensive method of metal boat construction, but I think this is the best. Certainly the most well understood and proven method.

Re: PRICE REDUCED 48' Aluminium Bluewater Custom Built Yacht For Sale

Hi Maba

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the question.

Yes, the dinghy can be pulled up a bit further. We often have it well back at anchor so that the motor does not shade the solar panels if they need to be right down. Although it is not normally necessary, the outboard can also be lifted off and the dinghy moved even further up for long open ocean passages. There is a storage bracket in one of the outside lockers for this purpose.

The dinghy storage at the rear is one of the great features of this yacht. The dinghy can be launched or retrieved in seconds, normally complete with motor. As well, this allows a RIB to be used (ours has an aluminium base), which is much better around rocks and coral.

It also means the foredeck is completely free even on long passages. Therefore the forward view is uninterrupted. Because of this you can helm from inside. Here you are out of the weather and still have 360° views.

Hi Noelex

Indeed very interesting yacht you have up for grabs there. We are looking for the right one at the moment, i wish this was a swing keel..
However, do you have any pics from the companionway looking fwd, particularly interested to find out more about the inside steering/nasty weather indoor watchkeeping?
I do have quite a few more Qs if you could send me an email, we'll take it from there calinzl373@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance!

Hi Calinz

The inside steering is one of the great features of this yacht. It enables you to keep out of the weather and and helm in comfort, while still maintaining 360° views . At the helming station inside there is an autopilot control, as well as chart plotter with radar and charts plus B&G displays. These are all duplicated outside. In addition there is a Simrad plotter with fish finder.

The photos below show the view from inside.

Front view through one of the two forward hatches. Because the dinghy is stored on the transom rather than on deck for longer passages, the view is uninterrupted:

View through forward port window:

View through rear port window:

Rear view through companionway while standing on first step:

I will send you an email as well.

Beautiful yacht. Has the boat sold and where exactly is it currently? Very much interested.

She's a LOT of boat for the money, with some fascinating features. If I were in the market I'd be extremely interested.

Re: keel stepped vs. deck stepped, if Bob Perry says that there's no downside, if properly engineered, to deck stepped (which he does), I'm OK with it. I think he's in a position to know.

Good luck on her sale. I'm surprised she's still available.

Thank you Gord, I've been surfing CF for a while, it was time to start writing.
Deck stepped is better in my view offshore, if dismasted at least you don't tear a big hole in your deck..

Beautiful! Though she has good beam to length, she comes in light for length. Likely quite fast. Can you comment on her sea motion against heavier plastic boats? Is VAT tax paid? Your boat makes me want to skip work for a bit.
