Plan on Selling the Ugly Duckling Soon.

Its not officially ready to go but will take inquiries, unless you want to do the minor maintenance due. (reseal deck hatches and paint touch up) So, if you're looking or know someone looking, please post here, or PM me.

My recent decline to my 67 YO health is getting to a point that it's getting hard to maintain the boat up to snuff, in my opinion. I can sail fine but my back and shoulders can't take the work anymore.

I'm asking 45K, which if I were just to sell all the fairly new equipment as parts, would go for more then that. Closer to 60k+, not including the intensive labor involved. Have all the receipts. The old timers on here know what time and $$$ I've put into her. She is almost 40 YO but one wouldn't know it unless they looked at the serial #. The survey a few years ago put her at over 200k placement value, w/o all the new electronics installed.

I also have a 6' X 12' enclosed trailer packed full of accessories, spare parts and maintenance tools/products that I'll give along with the boat, reasonably.

She is sitting in Blaine, WA right close to the San Juan Islands, in sight of Canada.

Here are a few pictures. The specs I'll put in the 4th post, from the iPad. Interior pictures on the next next post. I have hundreds of pictures so please ask, if seriously interested!

Del,
I'm sorry to hear you have decided to sell.

For anyone reading this, I can vouch for Del's work, he's a very knowledgeable mechanic and a perfectionist.
This is one nice boat and at that price it ought to be quickly snatched up.

Re: Plan on Selling the Ugly Duckling Soon.

Thanks guys! I really hate to see it go. It'll be like sending a child off to war. I'll be willing to give the new owner support into the systems and maintenance for as long as needed. I'm hoping the snow crap here clears up pretty soon. I'd still like to do a trip or two to Johns Is.

BTW the motor now has around 500 hours on it now. I'll check the next time on the boat.

Great looking boat, very well equipped. Why are the steps on the main cabin ladder notched?

They are notched for safety and ease of use. At first the steps were straight across. Which only allowed about 2" of step if you went down facing forward. only ones heel would catch, and sometimes not, allowing one to slip and fall.
Now one can get almost to whole foot on the step going down. And going up in a hurry, one would bang their knee, especially in a hurry. Those dangers are all gone now!

Plus, I added some nonskid grippers on the edges that dig into rubber soles while going down.

This right here is worth it's weight in gold, speaking from the experience of buying a boat from a largely uncommunicative and unhelpful previous owner.

Sorry that you're letting her go, and best of luck with an easy and smooth sales process.

Re: Plan on Selling the Ugly Duckling Soon.

At $45000, someone better snap Del's boat up quick. It won't be around long and waiting for the snow to melt could be fatal. Saw the boat before he built the interior but had finished much of the exterior and mechanical work. Del is a perfectionist and sure it would easily take multiple six figures to duplicate the boat. Del is a machinist and the cost of his custom hardware probably exxeeds his asking price. For someone wanting to do trips up and down the West Coast, the windward ability of this boat would be a big bonus.
