Absolutely love the layout and finish below...wow. Like a dream. And that list of equipment...I've never seen anything like it. Truly a bargain.

Re: Plan on Selling the Ugly Duckling Soon.
Hi Del--
'Bummer you are selling your "Love". I have carefully viewed your photos of your beautiful vessel and really appreciate the extensive care you have invested in this seaworthy "ride". I appreciate our "vintage" IOR treasures who were built "to take it" out there. I'm looking at doing my 3rd Pacific Cup race confident that my "similar-to-yours" racer/cruiser will once again, perform beautifully in even the most challenging conditions that do arise "out there" on the Pacific. Our similar era boats were built to "take it" out there which I can "first handedly" say the contemporary production boats cannot reliably claim. If your keel bolts are still "shiny" and clean, your boat will sustain some really challenging conditions such as 30+foot seas in 35 to 45 kts of wind for days, not just hours. If anyone wants to get a dependable performer, Del's boat would be the one to get. What a great price--45k? Really? A steal. Try getting one of those pretty Beneteau's or whatever and spend that little amount and have the confidence "out there"? Hah!
I hope someone worthy shows up to buy your fabulous sailing treasure.
'Best,
CLady

Re: Plan on Selling the Ugly Duckling Soon.
Hi Del--By the way, I'm heading up to Nanaimo to Stone's yard the 21st and might come in to Blaine--maybe I'll see the Duckling there. My C & C 40 is rigged with a solar panel array on the quarter lifelines and the stern with a bracket on the reversed stern for the emergency steering setup--She's with a very dark blue hull sides and I will tie up to the guest/transient dock.
Last time I came into Blaine, I was driving a Ker 46 to get it to the start line for the Van Islae 360.

I had planned to hang some solar panels off of arch but I never got around to it. But its still optional for the new owner. The arch was built to carry the brackets.
The 8 keel bolts are over kill at 1" each made of a very high grade material. There's not one sign of rust even after 35 year. I've hammer tested them and they are very solid. Also the keel to hull joint has a couple layers of epoxy/FG around it to help keep water out of the seam. Here's a couple pictures.
BTW I've sent you a PM.
And for who ever buys the boat I will provide a CD or thumb with the hundreds of pictures I've taken during the restoration, so they can see all the ins and out of the boat construction.

Re: Plan on Selling the Ugly Duckling Soon.
5 years too soon for me, unfortunately. But I brought this to the attention of someone who may be interested and maybe she'll stay close to home. Good luck with the sale!
(sorry for the weak post, I partly just wanted to stay informed on the movement of the thread and I haven't figured out how else to receive notifications on a thread )

It should show up in your emails now. If not, goto the User CP in the blue band above and reset your preferences.
Thx 4 look'n!

Awesome, thanks! Your advice also allowed me to UNsubscribe from the 'Why people are moving away from monohulls' thread. What a relief!

Re: Plan on Selling the Ugly Duckling Soon.
There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ugly about that duckling!
It looks like you have pampered, petted, and made mad passionate love to that sweet thing for many years. Reduce the price by about 90%, and I'll talk my "Financial Director" into letting me drive up from Kentucky and pick her up (the boat) in the back of my pickup.
Aarrrgh!

Re: Plan on Selling the Ugly Duckling Soon.
I think this boat will provide a young couple an excellent opportunity to go cruising with a good boat that's been looked after. Not that many around like this and it's unlikely that it will be around for much longer. You'd have to get a boat for free to equip it like this one for that price.

Good luck with that? A "Financial Director" would want to talk you out of buying a boat! And hope your pickup is a looooooooooong bed!
