Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale
It's difficult to finance an older boat, but it looks like my Nephew may have a financing opportunity. I'd really like to see it kept in the family.
It sure looks different now that it's empty of all our stuff!

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale
There has not yet been a final price or a final sale, but I've been listening to offers in the forties. There always seems to be more to these negotiations than the price,- upgrades, haul outs, bottom jobs, personal equipment.... these things add up quickly.
I have not bought or sold a boat since I bought this one 32 years ago. I'll soon be on the other side shopping for a Downeast at around 27'.
I've always heard that the best and most fair negotiations are when both parties are a little disappointed, but that axiom can't apply when you're selling within your family.

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale
Thanks Hudson.Good luck to your nephew, I can't think of a better maintained/equipped boat. I'll be keeping an eye on this post, I'm looking but not quite ready.

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale (Reduced)
Though I've had five very interested buyers including my Nephew. Four have not found anyone to finance an older boat and the other continues to offer less.
I was considering financing the purchase myself, particularly with my Nephew, but at my age of 70, it becomes less valuable to arrange for long terms.
Even at $40K my price is well over the "book" value of 1973 Morgans. I feel like I'm being dragged down by the glut of so many "worn out" old boats. Most of the very youngest of the Morgan Out Islands don't meet the condition of my boat, but I need to respect all offers.
Edit: I just showed my wife this update and she said, "You could add an emoji with tears." We laughed at this! Yes, I do sound like I'm whining.

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale (Reduced)
Captainstubbie, Here are some galley photos, as requested:
Starboard side refrigeration & freezer lids,- microwave (110v) top left & out of photo
Technautics refrig/freezer compresser aft of freezer cold plate
Down the companionway and to port is a double SS sink, toaster oven 110v, Princess propane oven & 3-burner range. Ample storage port & starboard.
Here's some of the port side galley, 'oven bottom right out of view
The only other galley photos I have are these two above the oven area...
... all this glassware has been removed
Some insight for my lack of galley photos comes with the knowledge that I'm the opposite of what people refer to as a "foodie". In fact the propane oven has never been used other than to store some sauce pans.

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale (Reduced)
I'd suspect insurance would be a hassle as well for an older boat as well. Good luck.

Probably not. A friend just insured his 1973 OI 41 with no problems.

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale (Reduced)
I've never lacked the opportunity to buy insurance, but I've spent many years choosing to manage risk with liability insurance alone.

We've got a 1976 boat, insurance has never been an issue.

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale (Reduced)
Hudson,
I saw your glasses, so many different places represented there. Almost all our cooking gear has been purchased somewhere else, and our glasses are souvenirs. Some people really like having everything matching, but, in our case, the differences help with whose glass is who's.
Just keep putting it out there that the person for whom your Aythya is the best boat for you and for her will soon appear.
Ann

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale (Reduced)
Thanks, Ann. Its not a worry with the need to sell, but I have been shopping about for a little "Downeast" that will be good for Nancie's access. I really don't want to be dealing with two boats and our new home on shore. I've been avid with asking for less. Someone will do well with Aythya and end up with a great value. I still need to transfer the marks of my two children's growth that are recorded on the main mast from their first steps until they left as adults.
Many memories with owning a boat for 32 years! Oh, and the glasses,- they're all Nancie's collection and she has a story that goes with each one. My stories are all written in our series of eight deck logs.
Edit: Oh, Ann, did you notice the last photo in my number one post? That's custom designed by your advice!

Re: Morgan Out Island For Sale (Reduced)
What? The wine glass holder?
Noooo. I went around Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club, taking pics of double anchor setups, and you had the ideas how to make it work on your boat. I was just the gal with the time and the camera. Too bad you didn't get to use it more, but life has a way of getting in the way of plans.
