Want to Rent: Looking for a sailboat in Lake Michigan area

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to rent a mono-hull sailboat for about 5 days in the Summer of 2020. The hoped for location is the Lake Michigan area. The intention is to take a roughly 4 day sail with two other crew. We're looking for something sturdy in the 30ft range with a wheel. It should have a galley and room for all to sleep.

I assume you are looking for a bare boat charter.

There are not many. A couple charters offer boats in the Canadian North Channel of Lake Huron. I think in Spanish and Little Current. The North Channel is a world class top cruise destination. There may be charters in the Chicago or Milwaukee area. I know you can get a crewed charter in Chicago.

Perhaps a broker might arrange to let a boat go for a few days. There are many brokerages. I know that Torresens in Muskegon has a lot of used boats in the sales lot. The Sailboat Specialists Since 1965 - Torresen Marine

Chartered this summer for the first time in Lake Michigan from Great Lakes Sailing Co, and can confirm a great recommendation for these guys.

We chartered a 2020 Jeanneau.

There are many very nice marinas/towns in the area, and we thoroughly enjoyed the charter. The sailing ranged from not (absolutely no wind), to 15-20 in which the boat performed well. So be prepared to motor. Not like the trade wind sailing we are used to.
