I am sorry. I did not specify. I did not intend foul regarding barnacles and slime. OF course, they are not picky...
Fibreglass can laminate in the stress points. Strip planking West system is a more rigid structure by itself. Upon impact or big stress, it comes out on top. It is a more expensive way to make a boat but still preferred by boat builders. Furthermore, if you have damage to your hull it does not spread so easy and can be repaired and still have the strength and rigidity of before.

But just average optimal speed a sailor would like on an average boat. I once had a 28 foot boat and I was happy with 6 knots in 10 knots of wind

Hull speed on my 28' boat is 6.43k. If I was going 6k in a 10k breeze would be very happy especially if it was to weather.
And yes my original comment was sarcasm. Always hear the complaint that traditional boats are so dark inside. That boat couldn't be more to the opposite extreme. Nothing against the boat as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The overall specifications look to be very good and I have a soft spot for cold molded construction.

To weather is a tough one always.
Just for your info, I bought Siren in Hong Kong as a pure racer. I wanted a fast cruiser. So I took her to a shipyard in the Philippines. It took me only 52 hours to do 650 nautical miles. But the noise was outrageous with the waves as she is very stiff as a hull. So I Made beds, put a kitchen a table, made a shower, generator and aircon. With total insulation. I come from the interior design world so I designed it by myself. The craftsmanship of the workers was more than brilliant. Everything is done by hand and very lightweight. I think she is a great example of turning a racer into a cruiser/racer at a cheap price. I was going to make more windows for a better view and more light then I decided just more leaks and extra heat. Older boats are darker because the wood and the paint is dark. The interiors are a shining light grey and everything is minimalistic with wood as ornamental. Thus, you have a reflection of light. But most of all no sharp corners as they really hurt.

Yes my mind had a little boggle with that one too. The barnacles etc are only going to see paint & under that resin/glass. Little do they know there are skinny strips of cedar under there.
I assumed it was an English not 1st language error

LLCoolDave,
The boat you posted links to is called "Siren".
The boat for sale in this thread is "Sayernara." Different boats.

Poll doesn't mention point of sail either. Beam reach we'd want to be over 8kts, closer to 10, DDW we'd be happy to get around 6.

I wonder, though, with the genset and air con/heating system, but overall light weight, how much storage and tankage for long distance cruising?

Good question, Fred. I know that on our slightly larger Sayer finding space for those items would surely encroach on storage and living space. The reported tankage on Siren (500 L water, 150 L diesel) is possibly adequate but not generous... especially if one is running the gen set to keep the a/c going.
And I wonder if the quoted displacement includes those heavy items?
But, she would be a really fun boat to sail!

Don’t you mean ‘Kubota’?
We have Nanni 4.150 HE motors which are marinised from Kubota VE 1505-e diesel engines with the addition of a salt water cooling system and heat exchanger.
