Want To Buy: Island Packet vs Passport...

Any thoughts people have on difference between Island Packet 40 and Passport 40? Just off the top of your heads? Love the feel of both, but feel Passport might be a little more nimble....?

A lot more keel on the IP which has plus and minus characteristics. IP is cutter rigged. I personally like cutter rigs with the Hoyt boom. Reefed main and staysail with the self tacking hoyt boom is a pleasure in high winds. Dont know much about the Passport.

i will risk the wrath of the IP owners .. but I thought the IP was sluggish and slow for a 40. the Passport is the same displacement. I like the Perry design better.

The PHRF book rates the Passport 40 at 30 seconds per mile faster than the IP 40. In reality is probably faster than that.
