Herreshoff Marco Polo Schooner for sale

LOA 55’
Beam 10’
Draft 6’
Displacement 39,500 lbs (dry weight)
USCG Documented Vessel
3 masted Schooner rig
Completed and launched in 1989

Professionally built ferrocement world cruising yacht with all construction documentation.
I am listing for the original owners who, after building and living aboard since 1989 have both moved into assisted living.
This is a one owner boat. She was built to exquisite standards for world cruising, but in reality only did day sails in The San Francisco Bay Area.

She has basically been a live aboard for the past 20 years. That being said, she is clean as a whistle inside and has extraordinary accommodations … including a gorgeous laminated hardwood head sink and sit down (sitz) bath tub.

S/V Bonnie Bette is built like the proverbial brick shithouse. She is a little ship. All of her gear is well oversized.

The obvious things that need attention:

1.The Ford 27213 Lehman Diesel is not running. A mechanic friend states that she turns freely, but has water mixed in the oil and possibly a bent rod. He suggested a rebuild or replacement.
2.Her last haul out was 2001. She needs one.
3.Her standing rigging is galvanized wire rope ala Bernard Motessier. There is surface corrosion visible, and although it still appears good, I would suggest new rigging before a long cruise.

Her sails are in remarkably good condition having had very little use and always been covered.
Sails that I have seen onboard: 2 mains, 1 mizzen (really 3 mains) , 1 jib on deck , 1 jib stored below and 1 drifter stored below

Her 3 hollow wood masts appear to be in very good condition.

Incredibly roomy and cozy teak interior, hot and cold pressure water system ,Hillerange gimbaled 3 burner propane stove w/ oven , standard apartment sized refrigerator / freezer , 2 color TVs, HUGE amounts of storage. The cabinetry on this boat is fantastic.

Guest accommodation in the forepeak and aft cabin.

Massive 304 stainless steel fuel and water tankage:
Fuel: 2, 240 gallon tanks
Water: 1, 250 gallon tank

There is too much info to properly list here.
I can email the complete survey, gear list and a zip file of photos to interested parties.
The boat is berthed in Redwood City, California and comes with a transferable liveaboard slip. Slip fees: $963. per month as a permanent liveaboard or $600. without liveaboard status.

She needs a lot of work, but is a completely solid , beautiful and rare vessel capable of taking you ANYWHERE you desire……or , just being a fantastic liveaboard on The San Francisco Bay. Try to find waterfront property that sleeps 5 in comfort for $963. per month. Impossible. We would love to see her go to a person or couple who will bring her back to her glory and set sail.

Her 2003 survey states replacement value at $235,000. And her present market value (2003) at $92,500.

Priced to move quick at $30,000. Or a reasonable best offer

Surveys welcome and encouraged! I will be available to show the boat next week.
