As much as it pains me, due to substantially changed life circumstances I am offering my HR33 for sale. It’s USCG-documented with solid fiberglass hull, the deck is composed of a foam core that doesn’t rot and the cabin is mahogany. I don’t have great photos of the boat, it seems I was too busy working on it or sailing. But some brief info:
- Completely updated and prepared for circumnavigation in 2017
- Helm w/ hydraulic steering + manual tiller backup
- New interior upholstery in 2018
- Teak decks replaced a few years ago (I was told 2012), in nearly perfect condition
- Portlights replaced and re-bedded (2018)
- Standing rig (chainplates, stays, etc) replaced, mast painted w 2-part paint (I was told 2012) in nearly perfect condition
- New dodger and mainsail cover (burgundy Sunbrella) in 2018
- New ofshore 135% Genoa in 2018 (Peak Sails)
- New fully battened offshore mainsail in 2017 (Peak Sails)
- Garhauer T-Track and cars (installed 2018)
- Lewmar self-tailing foresail winches (+ standard winches for downwind sails)
- Perkins 4.107 with full rebuild (~200 hours) and zero hour rebuild on the injection pump
- New electrical cabling and LED lighting throughout, all electrical run through breaker panels (2017)
- Hydrovane wind steer (Installed 2017)
- Very high quality sound system (Interior/Exterior) w/ JL audio speakers and small Alpine amplifier
- AIS In + Out | Vesper VM-XB-8000 + GX 2200 (Installed 2017)
- Revere OffShore Commander 2.0 (4 person, hard case) purchased new 9/2017. Stored below deck since new
- Nature’s Head composting toilet (Installed 2017)
- Garmin GPS + fish finder
- Katadyn 40E watermaker
- Engel Fridge/Freezer (Installed 2017)
- Alado roller furling installed in 2018 (lifetime warranty)
- Optimus 535 Stove w/ hanse burners
- 200 Watts Solar (Installed 2017)
- Aquair wind + tow generator (installed 2017)
- Lofrans Royal manual windlass (installed 2017)
- Exceptional ground tackle Mantus + Spade A100 anchor, Lofrans Royal windlass, 200′ of HT chain + hundreds of nylon line (don’t recall the length)
- Magma outdoor propane grill mounted on rear stanchion
- Avon inflatable
- Fiberglass nesting sabot w/ sailing + rowing gear
- Yamaha 2.5 4-stroke for the dinghies
Photos from 2017:
The vessel is currently in the Marquesas but I intend on returning to it end of February/beginning of March and sailing it to Hawaii. That's about the maximum amount of time I have available to be away so must sell either in F.P. or Hawaii. There is a likely chance that I'll give it to a broker for resale once I make it there.
This boat took me from San Francisco down the coast to La Paz, Mexico and across to French Polynesia. Upon my arrival in F.P. I was forced to return to southern California to care for my dying mother (she passed in 12/2019) so the boat has been in hard storage. The Covid outbreak withheld my return in 2020 and at this point simply too much of my life has been changed to accommodate a return to my original intention of a circumnavigation.
The boat worked great throughout my trip. At one point the rudder attachment to the post failed along the coast of Baja so it was professionally repaired and reinforced in La Paz, much stronger now than it was before. The Hydrovane easily guided me the rest of the way down the coast and up into La Paz.

Reducing asking price to $34,900. Negotiable, if you are willing to buy it where is in French Polynesia then that's worth a discount.

How was the new teak deck fastened? Screws? Epoxy? Or some combination thereof?

Sorry for a late response, she has not yet been imported but I'm happy to work with any interested party to get that done. I'd be willing to share on the costs for doing so

The teak deck was secured using screws with liberal application of caulking

I wouldn't make too many concessions, the boat w/equipment is worth more than what you ask. IMHO.

Thank you, I appreciate that and agree. I have a tight logistical situation that has necessitated the sale. Once I move it to Hawaii I'll be less willing to sell it below market.

Re: Hallberg-Rassy 33 Mistral, Bluewater ready in French Polynesia or Hawaii
I've had a lot of interest but unfortunately due to Covid French Polynesia has not yet begun allowing traffic again. Hopefully that will change in a couple months.
I am adjusting my plans for this a bit. Rather than sailing her to Honolulu, I'll be taking her to Tahiti to be put onto the market. Hopefully within 4-8 weeks of French Polynesia opening I'll be back on the boat and 2-3 weeks after that she'll be on the market in Tahiti.
