Re: Formosa 56 in Hawaii
Well glad to hear your buying it at that price buddy, it will be a 350k boat and your right boats are always in need of work but this one is a beautiful boat that has bin left without maintenance for a long time and is being sold as a class a and it’s a b maybe a c in class. As to respect, well respect buyers and they will respect you, don’t like sending someone to look at her to find she is not in shape photos would have you think. But like a told you, glade to hear you like the price, enjoy and May you only have good weather and happy sailing

I know you're new so let me explain it like this. The category you are posting your opinion in, is "Boats for sale". Generally it is for perspective buyers to ask questions regarding the vessel or once in awhile complimenting on said vessel.
There are other threads however where people do give opinions on things mechanical and maintenance issues. It's not like people haven't derailed boats for sale before but usually people like yourself that do not know better. Your negative opinion does nothing to help the seller sell his vessel.
This is a great forum to pick up knowledge buying and maintaining a boat. If you stick around, you will learn from more experienced members.

Fantastic 63 foot / 19.2 m blue water cruiser with a fin keel for great open water stability and maneuverability in close quarters (she can spin in place).
The Cutter Ketch rig can easily be short-handed, and I mostly single-handed her on our trip with my wife and children from California to French Polynesia through to Hawaii.
Roller furler on foresail, inner hanked-on inner foresail with self-tacking boom, mainsail with lazy-jacks, and mizzen sail.
Plenty of space and beautiful teak woodwork, making this both a capable ocean vessel and beautiful home on the water with three cabins for privacy, and room to stand and spread out.
The downtown Honolulu location makes it great for enjoying the beach, weather, dining and amenities, but also provides an amazing starting point to venture out.
We have since settled down on Oahu and our focus has shifted to other activities and hobbies.
"Gryphon" is conveniently moored in a slip in Honolulu, and we have her listed for sale for $140,000 USD with our broker: Kokua Yacht Sales.
Please see the Kokua Yacht Sales listing for the Formosa 56 "Gryphon" for more pictures, details and contact information, or PM me.
Thank you for looking and have a great day!

Funny that both of you are sort of right. This is a great boat, that I would love to own. And yes, I know there is always a need to spend money on a boat, any boat. Try to buy any boat, any size, that you do not have to spend money on. Let me know when you find that boat and I will buy it, sight unseen.
Hmmm, even this boat......just wondering if I need a holiday in Hawaii and check it out, and even if the boat is sold by the time I arrive, I still have a good holiday there.

Re: Formosa 56 in Hawaii
SDB, are the photos that you posted current? Has the bottom even been cleaned in all those years without slipping? Have the anodes been replaced?

Re: Formosa 56 in Hawaii
Im seeing this boat listed elsewhere for sale even now. If these photos are from several years ago, what does she actually look like now? How has the condition changed?
Also, after several years up for sale, what is it that’s keeping her from selling?
