There is nothing on the market similar to Elpidia in the AU$40-55k range expect for a yacht in France which is not as good feature wise as Elpidia and on the market for more than AU$60k. With a bit of work Formosa 46 yachts are selling in excess of $120k.
The vessel is in good condition other than some water damages on ceiling ply due to a leaking chain plate and generator corrosion problems.
Because of these 2 issues needing some repairs, the vessel is sold at this unusual low price in order for the Estate to sell quickly.

Dan,
The yacht is located in Malaysian waters in a small quiet marina just across the water from Singapore ( Opposite Changi Sailing club in the eastern end of the island).
Marina is called Sebana Cove Marina (1 23 N-104 6 E)- the owners son is the correct guy to make contact with as Richard Deraat who has power of attorney (richard.deraat@gmail.com), please mention to Richard you received this from Capt Steve Warren Thx

re: FORMOSA 46 sloop 1987, Estate Sale US$ 22,000
Someone visited the boat a few days ago and here is his report .... it will give you a better idea of the condition of the vessel now:
---
I visited the boat today with G.
Unfortunately this is a bigger project than anticipated, the gelcoat is peeling off in several areas, including coach roof. In addition there are several soft areas on the deck where water seems to have gotten through the teak.
I can appreciate that there is a serious amount of hardware in the boat, and that the engine is fairly new. But this is not a boat I can take on right now.
----
The asking price more than reflects that amount of work ... be sure you have some time and some money to restore the boat well .... what should cost you a lot less than other Formosa currently on the market ..

re: FORMOSA 46 sloop 1987, Estate Sale US$ 22,000
Has the user current " unrest" in the neighborhood created any difficulties. What would it take to transfer the registration fro m estate to Current NZ ? Than to USCG registration?

re: FORMOSA 46 sloop 1987, Estate Sale US$ 22,000
Current "unrest"???,, The vessel is in Malaysia a few miles across from Singapore and Changi Sailing club on the Eastern end of the island.
It is currently in NZ registration as i know it so it would just need a change of ownership and re issue of the new registration with new owners name, if changing to US registration a simple deletion from NZ registry is gained from NZ after a request letter to do so, it then can be registered any where depending on the new owners requirements,

What unrest??
Changing ownership of a boat is never that complicated after you purchase it and have a valid bill of sales.

FORMOSA 46 sloop 1987, Estate Sale US$ 22,000 (reduced from 42K)
If you are looking for a sturdy boat that only need a little work and some TLC, check this one! The price just got reduced to 22k from 42K ... to have a quick sale. Great investment if you can do the work yourself, you should be able to sell for way more than your time & expenses!
I don't think it will last long at this low price ...

re: FORMOSA 46 sloop 1987, Estate Sale US$ 22,000
We have someone looking at the boat now and getting it at the new reduced price. That was halfway already ...
So the boat is off the market temporarily until the deal go one way or the other ...
