She is custom built, Baggio design heavy displacement molded Ferro cement sailboat designed for offshore, blue water cruising. She is a marvelous boat especially in storms and rough seas. She was built in a ship yard and has a clay-like coating on top of the cement which was then covered with epoxy and finally painted.

I need to sell her quickly and am willing to negotiate a very good price, far less than what we paid for her, far less than her insured value and far less even than the cost of the equipment currently on-board. What year was the hull originally built? What shipyard was it built in?

Look mate, best of luck selling this. Pictures of the boat (as opposed to doors and inverters) might help.

Re: Estate Sale - 42' Sailboat

That is not an inverter but a computerized battery charger which looks after the 2 starting batteries, the 4 house batteries as well as the solar panel and wind generator. There is a 3000 watt inverter, but that is in the bosum's locker.
I have added pictures of Warana out of the water and 1 picture taken from the top of the mast.

Looks like a ferro hull to me.

Re: Estate Sale - 42' Sailboat

She mentioned the ferro up front:

"She is custom built, Baggio design heavy displacement molded Ferro cement sailboat designed for offshore, blue water cruising. She is a marvelous boat especially in storms and rough seas. She was built in a ship yard and has a clay-like coating on top of the cement which was then covered with epoxy and finally painted."

I've long been intrigued by ferro -- when done badly it is a real disaster, and gives all ferro boats a bad name. But good ones properly laid-up are bulletproof and can last a century. If I lived closer, I would be over having a good look at this one. Seems like a lot of boat for the money.

10.2 meters is about 33 feet 6 inches. The thread is titled "42' sailboat". . . . Is that 10.2 meters incorrect? Even counting the bow pulpit and self-steering gear on the stern I don't see how to you could get to 42' LOA.

Re: Estate Sale - 42' Sailboat

The Ferro cement boats built in the 70's in people's backyard are pretty much gone now. They either didn't get launched or they didn't survive the rigors of the ocean. Warana is a marvelous boat and I've priced her low as I need to find another owner who knows about boats, batteries, oil changes, diesel engines, etc. And all the upkeep required to keep a boat ship shape and Bristol fashion. The equipment on the boat is worth over $30k on its own. Even if someone wanted to purchase her to strip her for her equipment it is still a good deal but it would be nice if someone who plans to use her as a live aboard and/or to take her offshore who buy her to continue our dream.
