Albin Vega 27

Before you skip this ad thinking this seller is crazy asking $40k plus for a 1976 Vega, please read on as you’ll never see another small bluewater cruising boat for sale like this.
A little backstory first. I’ve had several under 23’ trailerable sailboats in the past and for 50 years have dreamed of getting an offshore capable boat and off and on have searched the PNW and Florida for an affordable one that was not as they say a hole in the water you throw money into as I don’t have the time, money or patience for a “project boat” and even boats I’ve checked out that were in “excellent condition “ always will require more of me than I’m willing to provide so if you fit this same description please read on.
So here’s the background on this Vega, it truly is a once in a lifetime unicorn and if my personal situation hadn’t changed I wouldn’t be selling it.
I bought this last year from the previous owner who bought the boat 7 years ago in Texas and had a new custom built for the boat triple axle galvanized trailer made and trailered it back home to OR. He proceeded to strip it down to the hull and deck and spent 7 years turning into a new boat. Actually a better than new because the hull deck joint was glassed stem to stern, a massive mast step replaced the factory one, all interior woodwork and fitting far surpass the Albin factory quality and installed a new Beta marine diesel and had all new updated electronics and wiring professionally installed. The electrics were the one thing he didn’t do himself as he felt his experience wasn’t up to his very high standards so hired it out to a marine professional. All the woodwork is artisan/craftsman quality and is stunning.
He spent 7 years of every weekend and 2-3 hours a night weekdays doing this work and it shows like a new boat. He sold it having never launched it for similar personal reasons as myself so after making this a new boat it needs someone to take advantage of a boat that has had about $60,000 in parts and materials put in it (I have all the receipts) and thousands of skilled man hours into making this this finest Vega not only in existence but has ever been available.
Trailer cost was $15,000, the Diesel was $12,000, and the wiring and Garmin touchscreen GPS and wind speed instruments were over $11,000.
Please note, this has never been launched since the rebuild and everything listed as new is unused!
Hull and deck new export painted with new anti foul paint, new SS windlass, full sail inventory reconditioned, all new port lights, all new deck hardware, rudder completely rebuilt, new Origo two burner stove with custome gimbal, new sink and plumbing, new fuel tanks, new compost toilet, all new upholstery, new Icom VHF radio, new led lighting, new Plastimo compass, a massive number of extras too numerous to list. All that’s needed to launch is ground tackle. I was about to order some and plans changed so that’s all that’s needed to launch and cruise. Literally no work needed on this boat… it is as new but better.
If you have questions please call me, no texts or emails as I’ll only respond to phone calls. The boat has been stored under cover in Sweet home since last fall.

As a previous bluewater Albin Vega sailor, I will second that they are great, capable offshore boats that can take you anywhere. Very simple to maintain, easy to sail, very strong, and pretty forgiving.

It's a nice looking boat no doubt, good luck with the sale.

I forgot to mention it’s stored in Sweet Home Oregon. I also have 70 or 80 pics of the total rebuild process over the 7 year period.

Well, she's just a little cleaner than mine. [emoji3]

Joking aside, she's a sweet little boat.

Re: Albin Vega 27

I forgot to mention Sweet Home is in Oregon near Albany and has not been launched since it’s top to bottom, stem to stern refit to better than new condition.
I just bought a smaller ramp launchable boat to drive to the Sea ofCortez this winter. It’s a Serpentaire 22, probably the only one in North America and the design won the first minitransat in ‘77.

Hi Nomad,
If it is still available, please send more info and fotos. Also, what is the headroom in the cabin? Does it have running rigging? Cabin layout. Etc. Thanks
