Abaco 24', traditional Bahamian
sloop, built in
fiberglass from a set of molds. A production run was planned but it didn't get off the ground and the first two boats were kept by the
builder.
I inherited 'the green turtle', now "turtle sloop" from the original owner/builder in the aftermath of
hurricane Dorian where she fell in the
boat yard and was holed in 3 places. I patched her up right and built out the
interior with cypress and rod
rigging hurricane debris, added
teak accents outside from salvaged material, added lights batterys and
electrical system, a cypress sculling oar, thru hulls glasses up,
head removed and replaced with a pantry, and sailed her back to
Florida 200 miles with no
engine and very dicey
rigging
This past year she was given a complete
refit and is practically a
new boat.
