More information about Windsong.

The all three battery banks are AGM. The house batteries are three 245ah 8D. The windlass is Lofran Falcon. There is a bow thruster. The prop is new in 2016. The keel is encapsulated. The mast was repainted, in mast furler rebuilt and all standing rigging and running rigging replaced in 2016. Four Caframo fans; in aft cabin, pilothouse, galley and double cabin. Aft cabin with two year old innerspring mattress and two year old foam mattress in double cabin. Domestic water pump new six months ago. LED lights inside and outside. Mast head tricolor and deck lights 3 years old. Hurricane lamp over dinette.

Life change forces sale.

I have never sold a boat before so ask questions.

Re: 54 pilothouse cutter sailboat

It looks like a very comfortable and well equipped house. But I see a lot of words and not one about its sails or sailing capabilities, not that we can't guess.

Re: 54 pilothouse cutter sailboat

Windsong is cutter rigged with a yankee jib and staysail, both roller furled. Has un-battened main that is in-mast roller furled. Storm sail with a track on mast. Main sail replaced 2017 and all sails with 2016 or newer sunbrella UV guard. There is a spinnaker pole for the yankee. No spinnaker. All aft-led lines accessible from sea-cockpit just outside pilothouse.

She prefers to sail flat and is great on ocean passages with easy motion. Cutter rig allows to be able to sail within ~35-40 degrees of upwind. Cruising speed under sail is about 6 to 10 knots. In light wind you can motor using 1.25 gallons an hour at 8kts. Motorsails comfortably (and quietly) and with 600 gallon internal capacity there is no need to supplement with jerry cans. This is a capable ocean sailing boat that is also extremely comfortable for living. Currently setup to make passages and transition to self-sustaining on the hook.

Re: 54 pilothouse cutter sailboat

Very interesting boat. My Skookum 53 (Skookum John) was built in 1979, as was the Skookumchuck, and the Crescent. They were all for commercial fishing, have fish holds, and ketch rigged. Mine does not have an aft deck with wheel like yours. The wheel is in the pilot house. Aft of the pilot house is the mizzen mast, the fish hold, and the fishing cockpit. I like it, but it is kind of work boat looking, particularly with its big 4 bladed prop. Your boat reminds me of a Skookum 50 sloop that I am familiar with. It is very nice looking, like yours. billr
