43'-54' Sailboat (cruising/liveaboard)

Hello,

Hoping fellow sailors might have a lead on a boat they know is for sale/soon to be for sale. Would be great to split the savings of a broker with an owner looking to sell directly to a buyer (me!!).

Wanted:
43'-54' sailboat

Budget:
~ $250K (flexible +/-$Gs, - definitely depends on boat/circumstances)

Must have:
- owners cabin with a square queen (not a vberth as owners)
- draft: less than 6.5'
- at least one dry head w/shower stall
- headroom for 6'2" sailors
- frig & freezer

Preferred:
- 110/240 US Spec
- traditional main
- nonskid decks
- no storm damage
- Location: North American East Coast; Caribbean

Why 43'-54':
- Inclusive of models that I have already been on that would fit my needs.

Boat's intended purpose:
- N. American East Coast to Bermuda/Caribbean cruising.
- Seasonal to full-time liveaboard

Really appreciate any feedback from anyone - serious or sarcastic (expected) - but do prefer productive leads!!

Thanks. And happy sailing!!

//

A huge difference between 43 and 54 feet. I would tend to use your budget to get something on the small end of your range. Lots of possibilities.

Thanks for the replies...

I am aware there is a huge difference in boats in the range 43-54. appreciate your feedback. I've sailed quite a few in that range and know those lengths (Make dependent) will work for me. Large net will hopefully catch a few listings.

That Sabre is a pretty boat!
I forgot to add, looking for a transom that gives easy water access: sugar scoop, swim platform, steps, etc.

Thanks!

I am just putting my brigantine schooner on the market. The location is New Bern, NC. Take a look at the specification and over 60 published articles in boating magazines about improvements, alterations, etc. on my website.
Britannia is one hell of a liveaboard cruiser for a family. My asking price is $150,000. P.M if interested. JR.

Thank you...maybe 20 yrs ago!
Gorgeous boat, but after 60K NM plus 2 decades later we are now getting too advanced for mast or companionway steps climbing or dancing on deck, and are shopping for one-level with lots of light and air from big windows.

Sounds like you really should be looking for a trawler. You will be lucky to find any sailboat which doesn't have a mast, or steps down due to the hull shape.

Checking back in with the group to see if anyone has decided to sell their boat that might meet what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

In 3 months you haven't found a boat. That is hard to believe if you really wanted one as i could find one in a week using your price and “requirements”. Just go to yacthworld and shop.

Oh, thanks, @Sailorboy1. I hadn't thought of yachtworld... And I'm glad you know the intricacies of my life enough to comment on MY boat search.
Looking for boat leads; I'm not soliciting ignorant comments.
Have a great weekend!!

Gave the lead, but it is ok with me if you want to search by casting net into a general forum instead of the place to find boats. Except for the MASSIVE size range of 43-54’, nothing about your requirements in post1 are special. By now you should have been able to look online at probably 100s of boats that met your wants. If you really wanted a boat you would have one by now.

FS,
Have you checked sailboatlistings.com? Using your basic criteria, I get a list of 31 boats; though at least half the ads are old enough they might no longer be valid. The site doesn't seem to have a mechanism for flushing out obsolete listings.

I am going under contract with a for-sale-by-owner boat I found there. The site is not as user friendly as YachtWorld or BoatTrader, given no email notifications when a new or changed listing shows up, so I have been checking in there weekly.

Good luck with your search.

.

I laughed at that link, an amazingly wonderful selection of nice boats offering a wide range of features. Almost as if you hand selected them. A few gave me pause to consider.
